The International Forum on Statistics, Renmin University of China (RUC IFS) was founded in 2004. The forum is dedicated to building a high-level academic exchange platform for the statistical community, and has become one of the most influential statistical forums in China. The biennial forum has produced positive and far-reaching academic impacts. In particular, the joint hosting of the 4th International Statistical Forum and the 5th International Conference on Statistics and Society in 2010, as well as the "Initiative to Promote the Role of Statistical Science in All Scientific Fields and Economic Development" singed after the events by more than 30 distinguished statisticians, including 9 Fellows of the Academy of Sciences from China and the United States, have greatly promoted the First-Class Discipline development of Statistics.
